Sarah Mosden

Owner, Founder, Music Therapist

My name is Sarah Mosden, and I am the owner, founder, and head music therapist of Mosden Music Therapy, LLC! I became a board-certified music therapist in February 2021. I hold a masters degree in music therapy from Temple University, as well as a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Miami. I completed my music therapy internship at an arts-focused childcare center in New Jersey (now under new management). I originally became interested in the field of music therapy after working as a music specialist at Sunrise Day Camp; a full-summer day camp for children with cancer and their siblings.

I started my private practice venture in early 2021, shortly after I received my board certification. Not being interested in many of the jobs available at the time, I began reaching out to a handful of schools and facilities to set up (what I thought at the time would be) short-term contract work. I quickly came to realize that many of these centers, especially those for children with diverse needs, were severely lacking in high-quality and interactive music programs provided by a music therapist. I decided to continue my outreach to multiple centers in the area in an effort to provide the best possible music programs to as many children as possible. My ultimate goal is to provide affordable and accessible music therapy services to children in greater Philadelphia area.

Jesse Appel

Music Therapist

Hello! I'm Jesse Appel. I have been a practicing music therapist for nearly a decade, having completed my undergraduate coursework at Elizabethtown College in 2016 and internship/certification 2017. I currently attend Temple for my Master's of Music Therapy. During my time as a music therapist I have worked with a diverse variety of populations and needs, including children, older adults, persons with intellectual disabilities, hospice, mental health, and community settings. I have spent much of my career as the music therapy supervisor in the skilled nursing setting.

As a music therapist, I believe firmly in the inherent joy and play of music-making. This factor can be a huge motivator to participate actively in therapy, and make real progress on clinical goals. Flexibility and creativity are key, as well as patience and unconditional positive regard. I additionally studied harp as my principle instrument, and enjoy bringing it's unique tone into the clinical setting.

In my spare time I enjoy baking, hiking, wildlife photography, playing drums, keyboard, and harp in various local music bands, and hanging out with my two cats.
